***FINAL NEW VIEWS on https://youtu.be/10aw3AiI-58 My late Dad was a 747/DC-10 captain for NWA and flew the "Charlie-Charlie" or "Checkerboard" approach into the old Kai Tak in Hong Kong many times...said it was his favorite in all the world. I created a simple and short flight plan to set up a route he might've flown after crossing the Pacific to the initial approach fix on Cheung Chau Island (see plate) then to downtown Kowloon City. I fly it with either the Asobo 747-8i (with the last Northwest livery he flew) or the Salty 747-8 (with the retro livery from his early days) from 4500', which is the missed approach hold altitude in the event is doesn't work out too well (see overrun pic). :) If you want to watch me fly it first, check out: https://www.youtube.com/@bugnuts
Awesome thanks for this one.
I remember running the Cheung Chau approach in a waay older version of FS.
Operating into HKG now is quite a bit different from the old Kai Tak days, although I haven't been there since the 3rd runway has opened up. That's got to be a busy approach path now!

Congratulations on your first post! I was actually going to ask you for this flight plan, thanks for the preview of the flight. I bet your dad would be proud! Thanks for sharing this with us. Awesome choice of livery btw 😉
