This is a simple copy & paste (or drag & drop) solution to enable the toolbar in VR, with a perfect cockpit view, for every default aircraft (and optionally a few more)
It took me a very long time to go through and edit the .cfg file for every aircraft, but now in VR when you enter Instrument View 1, you will have a view basically identical to the default cockpit view, but with a working toolbar.
SIMPLE installation:
- Unzip and go in to the folder which applies to you depending on you MSFS edition, select all and copy.
- Go in to your "Official" install folder (where all Asobo aircaft & airports are located), paste and overwrite. Only camera.cfg files will be overwritten.
Once loaded in your VR cockpit of choice, hit whatever you have bound to "Instrument View 1". Your view will stay the same, but the toolbar will now work in VR.
There are two ofher folders included: "Reno Air Race" and "Third Party". If you have the full Reno DLC, go ahead and copy that over in the same way. Otherwise, just copy the aircraft which applies to you. Likewise, if you have any of the third party aircraft, copy them to your "Community" folder, or wherever you install such content.
sadly it doesn't work for me either in any plane (premium deluxe and customs), Samsung Odyssey+ and the recent non-beta version of the sim.

Doesn't work how? What happens please? You're not trying to put it in the community folder or anything are you?

Adams_Simporium, I just wanted to say thank you, thank for trying to fix this balls up, I appreciate the work on this, Steam install here so might be a while before us Peons get a look in at the official fix, but it will work fine in the interim. 👍

Good concept so I was excited to try it. Replacing the camera.cfg for every default aircraft sounded scary so first I tried it with just one, the C208. I made a copy of the default camera.cfg, dragged yours to the same folder, and did a test flight. For me, all cockpit views became transparent in both screen mode and VR. I could see door handles, window frames, gear, etc. External view looked normal. I took off and tried launching the tool bar. I could see it but it was unresponsive (as usual). I did NOT do Control-Zero (I assumed this would not require it).
I just realized that I probably have a C208 performance mod installed (I checked, I do). Maybe this makes a difference, or maybe I did something else wrong, so YMMV, but I would suggest doing some testing before installing this mod for all aircraft. I learned last week that "Home Cockpit Mode" is another workaround for accessing the toolbar in VR. This works for me in VR but it interferes with mouse control of views and some other things so I only used it while in VR.

Probably is the mod causing issue. You don't need to press Ctrl+0, by default that's Instrument View 10, and not all aircraft have that. You need to enter Instrument View 1.
