Vienna City Landmark Pack - v1.9
Vienna calling!
This is my updated rendition of Austria's capital city. As bing map data is not sufficient enough across Austria, the ingame version of Vienna does not give a good representation of this wonderful european city.
Hopefully my scenery pack provides for a better experience landing and taking of at LOWW (Vienna International Airport).
Features
This scenery pack contains many landmarks and well known buildings from Vienna, Austria.
Currently there are more than 50 landmarks in the pack, featuring:
* St. Stephen's Cathedral
* Schloss Schönbrunn
* UNO City
* Buildings along the "Ring"
* Vienna Riesenrad
* DC Tower
* Donauturm
* Ernst Happel Stadium

Issues
As I am a beginner at working with both, Blender and Microsoft's SDK, there are some problems regarding this pack. Please don't be harsh as I will try fixing it, however, feel free to comment on any issues or glitches you might find down in the comments!
Ongoing issues:
* 3D models optimized in last update, but still room for improvement (app. 5 fps decrease!)
* No night lighting on models

How to install?
As per usual just unzip the download with WinRAR or a similar software and copy it into your Community-folder. If you struggle with this, please refer to one of the many great tutorials out there.

changes v1.8:
* Performance Improvements: Changed LODs to refine them. There should be less impact on your GPU, if you are farther away and can see multiple landmarks at once.
* Added models: Pyramide Voesendorf, Pfarrkirche Donaustadt, Sternwarte Türkenschanze.
I truly apologize for the multitude of updates. This will be the last one for some time however. Next step is to figure out proper night lighting of all models and to refine all models in Vienna's center. This will take quite some time.
v1.7 changes:
* Added POIs: Point of Interest markers for all important Landmarks. You can switch them on/off in the game's menu.
* Added a better version of Vienna Riesenrad
* Added some wildlife in and around Vienna.
* Improved fps performance slightly. Still work in progress!
v1.6 changes:
* Improved performance slightly above inner city limits further.

* Improved performance slightly above inner city limits. Models have a lower tri count now. Still not optimal.

v1.4 changes:
- Added night lights! These is the first iteration of external lights (flood lights and ambient night lights). Emittive lights (windows etc.) still need to be done! However, the landmarks are not completely dark anymore. VFR now possible during night!
- Added more buildings:
* Arenbergpark Flak Towers
* Powerplant Donaustadt
* Arsenal
* St. Othmar Church (The generic building was really tall and ugly!)

v1.3 changes:
- Complete refix of texture color balance. Many thanks to Archer374 for your outstanding help with this topic. 3D models will fit seemlessly into the generic scenery now.

* All Highrises near Schwedenplatz

v1.2 changes:
- Hotfix of Kahlenberg model issue.
v1.1 changes:
- Added more landmarks: Vienna Riesenrad now included. More than 50 unique, highly detailed 3D models in total now!
- Refined some glitches regarding Techgate/UNO City model.
- Optimized LOD draw distance.
v1.0 changes:
- New LODs - This pack is not consuming tons of framerates and GPU% anymore!
- Complete rework of all 3D models and their textures - Reduced rough edges and glitches to a minimum.
- Color corrected all models for a better fit within MSFS Bing maps.
- Added new buildings resulting in a total of almost 50 unique, highly detailed 3D models and numerous buildings within those.
- The Tower of LOWW (Vienna International) and OMV industries will NOT return to this pack, due to issues regarding the market place addon of Orbx's LOWW.
Therefore this pack is COMPATIBLE WITH ORBX LOWW (Vienna International Airport)!
This is now the first beta version! Please stay tuned for further updates and improvements!

Servus. I lived in Vienna (note my username) and this is a nice mod, but it needs Vienna's classic red trams for greater realism.

Anyways this mod is kind of overhauled with asobo's Photogrammetry in place now.

Hi Troglodytus.
While WU6 seems to make your Vienna project obsolete in reality some of the handcrafted scenerey (eg. Stephansdom, Stadion) are rather poorly done and do not mirror the real buildings. My question would be: is it possible to just use single objects of your package to replace the handcrafted ones? Thank you!

You are right, (fortunately) this pack has become obsolete and Vienna`s photogrammetry can finally be streamed, thus saving space on everyones hard drive.
You are right, the handcrafted objects are not perfect. I have not planned to release singular POIs in photogrammetry, however, I could provide you the objects that you could place yourself in the simulator? Have you ever tried/worked with the SDK?

unfortunately I did not have time yet to test and experiment with WU6.
just had a short flight above Vienna and it looked really good.
i suspect this mod will be legacy from now on.
