I'm happy to present you this mod over the ASOBO's Cessna 172SP Skyhawk AS1000

(for the impatients asking about Classic gauge variant, please read until the end of theses notes)

What is it ?

It's an improvement of the default Skyhawk AS1000 from Asobo (one of the default planes). Interior animations have been made from the static model, custom objects have been added.

When installing this mod, it replaces the default Skyhawk AS1000 (no new plane in the hangar).

How do I install it ?

Like all other mods :

  • remove previous version if there is one (in case some files are removed).
  • drop it in your community folder.
  • have a carefull look at the compatibility list
What's in this mod ?

TLDR : Vidéo demo

First of all you have an ingame mod manual :

  • click on the Help message on the panel, on the left to the PFD.

With this mod you will be able to :

  • Open the doors
  • Open the windows
  • Use the sun visors
    • You have 4 axes for the visors : 3 rotations and 1 slide

You will get customizations directly from the cockpit :

  • A handbook on pilot's left compartment storage
    • Accessible when you look down : "checklist01" camera : CTRL+6
    • Click on the book, you will get a page with clicable options (light is required in the cockpit)
  • OPTIONAL FAIRINGS
    • You can show/hide the front and/or back wheel fairings
  • WHEEL CHOCKS, TIE DOWNS, COVERS
    • You can park your plane with optional wheel chocks and tie downs (currently visual, no effect on mouvement yet)
    • Set/remove external covers
  • PILOT & COPILOT BODIES
    • You can show/hide pilot and copilot in inside views. It does not affect external views
    • Set pilote or copilote weight to zero if you want them to be hidden in external views
  • PASSENGERS
    • You can show/hide left and right passengers in interior and exterior views.
    • Set their weight to non zero to make them appear.
  • CUSTOM SEATS CONFIGURATION
    • You can show/hide the front right seat and the back seats
  • CARGO CONFIGURATIONS
    • If you have removed backseats, you can choose between differents setups in a dedicated page of the book
  • STATE SAVING
    • You can have all the switches, levers, fuel tank levels, visors, doors and windows remembered
    • It's an option, if chosen, state loading will occur at parking spot only. It will be partial in any other case.
    • If you don't want it, plane will start as it usually does
  • Several static objects decorating the interior (bottles, bags, maps...)

You also have two new checklists tools :

  • A checklist card
    • take it on the top of the panel, it will stay visible in the corner of your eye during the different phases of the flight
    • no checkmarks, no hint, no automatic help : they're made to be read
    • you can show/hide it from the options handbook
  • A flip checklist box
    • to follow easily steps of your takeoff and landing phases and remember what you've done
    • you can show/hide it from the options handbook

Compatibility
  • WT G1000NXI mod is selected by default.
  • This mod has been tested with the current version of MGouge425's Asobo C172SP AS1000 Realism Mod and they appear to be fully compatible, so they can both be installed without any apparent interference.
  • Existing Cessna Skyhawk AS1000 LIVERIES are compatible
    • as long as the models are not overwritten in the livery itself. In this case, original interior/exterior will be used
    • As long as the panel.cfg/xml are not overwritten (see FAQ if you have blank screens on checklist/book)
  • My other C172 mods are not modified by this mod, but they still work :
  • B78XH mod is reported to be cause side effects (it's true with other planes too)
  • PMS GTN750 mods are not compatible (until they're updated to use "override_base_container ")
  • WBSims classic mod is not related to this plane (it's for classic variant) : no incompatibility
AS1000 variant ? Classic Gauges variant ?

This mod is made from Asobo's Skyhawk AS1000 thanks to Games content usage rules : 3D model has been imported in Blender, modified and exported as this mod.

There will be no classic gauges mod based on Asobo's Skyhawk model as it is :

  • encrypted (after SU10, only cfg files are available)
  • part of MSFS Premium (not redistributable as is)

A full build of the cockpit from scratch would be necessary for a gauges variant. I may work on that in the future, but it's not planned yet...

As a frequent question, I will not be working on C172 classic (gauges)

XML files and 3D models are still encrypted after SU10, (only .cfg files have been) and anyway it would not be possible to deliver the plane freely nor to limit to MSFS premium users.

Quand je vois la qualité de votre travail et les adaptations (cargo, passagers etc) et l'aspect si pratique de votre avion, je me demande vraiment pourquoi par exemple le BN2 Islander peine à avoir des passagers et que plusieurs autres avions que j'aime beaucoup sont avares de perfectionnement. On devrait vous engager dans ces entreprises qui font payer et qui manquent d'imagination et d'habileté. Merci encore et je me réjouis de votre inventivité !

Need something like this for the TAIL DRAGGER. but lovely mod. still downloading...

Great mod! BUT I have lot's of issues / bugs:

1:

In VR, there are several areas around the Yoke and G1000 displays where the click spots of several knobs are moved... there seems something messed up

(no issues in the default 172 G1000, only in your mods it's brocken :/)

2:

second issue is that very often (I fly with an Xbox Gamepad on PC at the moment), there rudder when in cockpit view does not work at all.

No response from the plane at all. ONLY in cockpit view.

In the outside view, it works totally fine.

But inside, I can not move the rudder at all.

Of course like that it's useless / unflyable :/

Now this rudder bug seems to also sometimes occur with default planes, but with your mod, this bug is on steroids :/

Outstanding work! I love aircraft that have attention to detail, things that make you feel like you actually own an aircraft in sim. Great work on the cargo update, this will be fantastic for third party programs like Air Hauler 2 and NeoFly. Keep up the awesome job. 😊

A realy top update, with new freight!

V1.5.0 The cargo update

I've finaly added the objects I had modeled last summer.

WIP :

  • It's planed to be able to load/unload cargo.
  • It's planed to have decals on most of the cargo objects, so you'll be able to customize them easily.
  • I also have a few other cargo options in my todolist (not modeled yet)

But this will be for future updates, theses cargos have been wating for too long in my hangar !

Features / fixes :

  • cargo configurations : new page in the book
  • no more weight needed for passengers : I've removed the condition, you only need to check the options in the book now.
  • ingame documentation update
  • SU11 asobo's plane retro port of the configurations, variables, etc
  • Wing texture fix, thanks to SebStep91

Great mod...I was having compatibility issues and found the problem with me...Heavy Division/B78XH mod was giving me problems. I also removed it from the community folder and now everything is ok.

Hi! It works well, but only on default liveries. I see in the compatibility section that it will work if a livery doesn't overwrite the models, but is there a way I can check and see if that's what is happening? If a livery is overwriting the models, is it possible to correct that? From what I can see, these liveries should only be textures and not models...

Problems: PFD did not come on, MFD was dim, avionics lighting was all the way up, there was nothing at all in the Handbook, unlike the Help demonstrated.

What file must we modify to see the AI stationary aircraft with the covers and chocks?

Great mod! With the enhancement mod and GTN750 mod it's now my go-to 172. I don't mean to be greedy but is it just the one set of rear passenger models available? I think it's the C414 or 310 you can change some parameters and get different passengers. Just checking. 😊

I've just discovered a small error. Somehow the vents or the texture on the inner wing front are not displayed correctly. You can see something, but it looks rather shadowy. The textures are from the "C172SP_AIRFRAME_LIVERY_ALBD.PNG". You can't see them in your photos here either. It's just a small thing, but maybe you can fix it in an upcoming update.

Otherwise, as already mentioned, a great mod.

hello, the problem I have is that the throttle goes from full back to idle....and even if i aplly full throttle on my joystick this happens continously that the throttle goes full and idle and back to full....I only have this issue with this aicraft/mod

Everything is perfect for me, what a great job! Just one thing: I would like my username to appear: ALMA AIR. How should I do it ?

While most of the options work (pilot/copilot visibility, fairings etc) the passenger visibility options have no effect and the rear seat remains empty.

The same here. Hand book options not working.

    New features :

    - set weight > 0 in the MSFS "weight and balance" page

    Fixes :
    - reload of saved stated delayed a little (I found a race conditions)
    - panel sticker UVmap fix

    Happy flying with the new passengers and don't worry if they do not smile a lot, I'm sure they really appreciate the flight !

    - Internal stickers : One single image to decorate the panel easily

    - levers positions
    - switches
    - sun visors positions

    but does not record (yet) :
    - the group of 4 internal lights (they'll require animation recoding)
    - magnetos key (by choice)

    Fix :
    - now this mod uses Working Titles G1000 panels by default.

    If for a specific reason you want to use default old G1000 system,
    you'll have to replace lines with WT1000 references in panel.cfg with :

    Thanks a lot for all your messages and thanks for your replies to the poll for the next features.
    The primary choice is STATE SAVING in plane. I'll be working on that feature. The objective is to :
    - save buttons and levers positions
    - save fuel quantity
    - save mod options (chocks, checklists... that's almost already done)
    - stay compatible with startup options from MSFS : I need to see what to do when one wants to start from the runway or inflight (you probably don't want to spawn there with everything turned off, but I've seen payware planes doing that with state saving...)

    Thanks to all the kind words for the 1st release of this mod !

    I've tried to handled the most urgent problems :

    This new release fixes :
    - external lights (landing + taxi) are now visible on the model
    - windshields are cleaner : I've removed (for now) the annoying textures with prints & stains
    (we'll see later with the dirt & aging layers)
    - objects in cockpits (bottles...) have been enlarged to match better real sizes
    (they are only the begining of custom interior decoration)

    This release also adds a few simple new features :
    - you can now hide the checklist card, if you don't want it at all
    - you can show or hide the various objects in cockpit
    - new external static objects :
    - tie downs
    - pitot covers
    - cowl plugs
    not perfectly static, you'll see...

How about the C172 Classic with gauges

There will be no classic gauges mod based on Asobo's Skyhawk model as it is encrypted and is part of MSFS Premium (not redistributable as is)
A rebuild of the cockpit would be necessary for a gauges variant. I may work on that in the future, but it's not planned yet...

Blank screens (checklists, book...)

The code for checklists, book, etc is in panel\panel.cfg and panel\panel.xml.

To correct your livery :

  • if you have a panel\panel.xml file : remove it from the livery folders
  • if you have a panel\panel.cfg file : it's only usefull if it changes the registration color.
    • If it's white : remove the file from the livery folders (it's useless)
    • If it's another color, your file will have to look like this :

Can't click on the options

It's usually a mod conflict.
