1FL5 West Bay Creek, West Bay, Florida, United States
West Bay Creek is a small river running into Saint Andrews Bay near Panama City Beach in on the south west coast of Florida.
This Seaplane base is not at the moment featured in MSFS and was requested to be added by the FSE FBO base owner ‘Rieder Air Seaplanes’. There are two constructions for this airbase, first runway 14 end for floatplanes departing to the east and the second for runway 32 that departs to the west. In addition there is a helicopter pad at the runway 32 end and to take off from this select E for east departure or W for west departure, best of luck landing back on the pad.
Also at the runway 32 end there is a derelict barn and shed that are in the course of refurbishment and the pontoon is holed in some tanks causing it to sink so don’t walk to the end.
There is a boathouse at the runway 32 end that with practice you should be able to park your aircraft in it although you might have to wait for the boat to move before departing.
On the mid island bank there is a weather station serving the airbase.
One of the features to look out for this construction are the flock of geese that will take off and fly east from the right of runway 14 periodically, you may encounter these on landing so keep an eye out for them.
I hope you enjoy the seabase as much as I have in pulling it together.
A big shout-out to the developers of the library files below that you will need to download also.
